Mill, Deer, and Antelope Creeks − Flow Recommendations

Mill, Deer, and Antelope Creeks support fish populations of Central Valley spring-run Chinook salmon and Central Valley steelhead. Loss of habitat and low availability of water is putting these species at risk of extinction, and both are listed as threatened under the federal Endangered Species Act. To protect these populations, Governor Newsom directed the State Water Board to study possible flows in Mill, Deer, and Antelope Creeks as part of the California Salmon Strategy for a Hotter, Drier Future. The California Department of Fish and Wildlife also sent a letter to the State Water Board including instream flow recommendations to support these species.

State Water Board staff will be developing a draft scientific basis report to protect salmon and steelhead in Mill, Deer, and Antelope Creeks considering these recommendations, tribal consultation, and feedback received through public comment.
